During December 2015 the management, committee, members and friends of the Great Western Railway Sports Association Social Club in Cowick Street decided to support award winning local charity Dream-A-Way by organising a “fun” fundraising day.
Louise Barnett organised a very successful skittles challenge during the afternoon and entertainments secretary, Bill Atkins compered an exciting evening talent show.
Joey Macaloon supported both events by chasing lots of raffle and auction prizes and chipped in with some excellent poetry (see below)
The final fundraising total hit a magnificent amount in excess of £1000
Chair Jeff Merrett said :
“The hard work of Bill and his small team at the Railway Club was rewarded by this amazing total raised for Dream-A-Way
The £1000+ will be put to good use over the next few months supporting local families with disabilities
On behalf of all connected with Dream-A-Way can I sincerely thank everyone that supported this excellent day in any way”The photo shows the £1000 cheque being presented to JM at the club from L to R is Joey Macaloon; JM ; Bill Atkins; Louise Barrett
